1. Agreement

These terms apply when you use Checkmate, a chess app published by Mrutyunjay Studio. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, please uninstall the app.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Checkmate on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. This licence is in addition to the terms of the store you installed from, which also apply.

3. What you may not do

• Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.
• Redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense or republish the app or any part of it.
• Remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notice.
• Use the app to break any law that applies to you.

4. Price

Checkmate is free and supported by non-personalized advertising. It has no subscriptions or in-app purchases. Ad availability and frequency may change, but ads will not unlock or restrict chess features.

5. Your data

The app stores your settings and your win/loss record on your device. If you choose Online, it sends your Apple, Google, or Guest Firebase identity, display name, matchmaking state, and chess moves to Firebase to run multiplayer games. Google AdMob processes data to deliver and measure non-personalized ads. See the Privacy Policy. Uninstalling removes local data; Settings > Account and the Online screen include a Delete account control.

6. The chess engine

The engine plays to a fixed search depth and time budget that depend on the difficulty you choose and on how fast your device is. The strength figures shown next to each level are approximations offered as a guide, not a measured or certified rating.

7. No warranty

Checkmate is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mrutyunjay Studio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above, so they may not apply to you.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
